Cake smash – splash & Snuggle sessions – New to 3B&ME!
During the winter months, I get a bit more time to try out new things. The mainstay of my work is outdoors so as the weather closes in, many families prefer to wait until the spring to have their shoots.
Actually, winter shoots are lots of fun. Picture the scene: everyone is wrapped up warm, on a bright sunny day, cheeks glowing from the fresh chill in the air. Whilst out enjoying a walk, maybe with the family dog, in one of many fantastic locations that I know, we can stop for a hot chocolate. All of which would provide great photo opportunities and why I believe photoshoots in the winter shouldn’t be written off.
I have just invested in a studio set up in my home and am so excited to be able to offer a very natural approach to cake smash photoshoots. These shoots are particularly popular to make first birthdays even more special and are also suitable for older children. As I provide the outfits, I am able to accommodate babies up to the age of around 18 months (both children in my photos on this post are that age). If you have an older child, please do get in touch, we will just need to discuss the styling and what outfits you should bring for the session.
Some may think these sessions are a bit bonkers and they would be right! They are certainly lots of fun and an awful lot of mess! But the babies absolutely love them! What’s not to love about getting your hands on a beautifully hand made cake, and being positively encouraged to explore, touch, feel, squeeze, and of course, eat, as much as you like…. within reason of course!
The sessions often start with the little one running around, before tucking into the cake – exploring the textures and tastes. Some like to get stuck right in, and some prefer to take a reserved approach, but all have a fab time. After the cake smash (you are most welcome to take your cake home with you depending on how much it got smashed!!) we then have bath time. The babies love this, splashing around and blowing bubbles into the shot. We end the shoot wrapped up in a big, soft, fluffy towel, put on some soothing music (the babies often get sleepy at this point) and I take some delightfully snuggly photos. Parents are most welcome to jump into the shot at this point if they wish. A game of peek a boo with the towel often ends the session, and your little one will no doubt be fast asleep, before you even pull off my drive!
These sessions are all inclusive. The session fee includes your digital images, of which there will be approximately 35, in high resolution for you to print yourself. You are most welcome to order prints through me too, if you wish, but your digitals come with printing rights. Sessions last around an hour, and the cost of £225 includes the styling you see in my examples in this post, and your cake made by a superb local cake maker in a choice of chocolate, vanilla or dairy/egg free. Different colour icings are available and there will soon be premium options that cost a little extra.
