When it comes to choosing the perfect venue for your wedding, Danson House stands out not only for its breathtaking location but also for the warm and welcoming nature of the people who run it. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing numerous weddings at Danson House, and I can confidently say it is one of the most stunning and well-managed venues you could wish for.

The House and Its Splendid Features

One of the first things you’ll notice about Danson House is its remarkable stone staircase which leads you to a magnificent entrance. The staircase itself offers a dramatic backdrop for candid moments, (see photographs) and more formal group shots alike. True to my style, I’ll always aim to provide you with a really good mix of both.

The Rooms

Danson House boasts four main rooms, each with its unique charm and character. Upstairs you have The Johnston Room The Sir John Boyd Room – Let’s take a closer look at these spaces from a photographer’s perspective:

The Johnston Room: Beautiful room on the upper floor that accommodates around 12 guests. A beautiful fireplace creates a wonderful focal point, and of course, you use the cantilever staircase to get to and from this room!!

The Sir John Boyd Room: Also on the upper floor, this room can accommodate a larger number of guests, approximately 25. Its striking colour provides a vibrant and elegant backdrop for your wedding photos.

The Dining Room is the largest space at Danson House accommodating some 65 guests, with walls adorned with large paintings that create a real wow factor. A striking fireplace commands attention at the back of the room, adding to its grandeur. When I have photographed weddings in this room, the ceremony takes place in front of the large bay window, which floods the room with beautiful natural light.

The Salon features stunning blue, ornate wallpaper and can accommodate around 45 guests. You enter this room through the library, which is now decommissioned for weddings. During my shoots in this room, we typically exit through the dining room, providing another great photo opportunity, though this may not always be the case. I’ve photographed several weddings in The Salon, and it’s often booked for smaller numbers than it accommodates.

“We recently booked Nina to photograph our wedding at Danson House in Bexley.

Prior to the day Nina scheduled a call to discuss the types of photos we would like and provide some suggestions as she had photographed weddings at Danson previously so could advise on the best places to get photos.

On the day Nina arrived early to allow her to get photos of the groom and guests arriving, before capturing the bride arriving and the ceremony itself. After the ceremony she captured some lovely photos of us leaving the house. She then organised our guests to photograph the groups we had requested before taking us over to the gardens to get photos of the couple alone.
While taking photos she offered suggestions and advice to ensure we felt relaxed and got the most out of our day.

Nina sent on a small selection on photos a few days after the wedding to provide us some initial photos to share with family and friends.
She then sent the remaining photos a few weeks later via an online gallery which we could download or share with family.

The photos themselves were wonderful and perfectly captured our wedding. There was a lovely mix of posed and natural photographs of ourselves and our guests, and we are thrilled to have these memories captured.
