Our new normal…..

It’s been a while since I last wrote a post. I still have the unpublished posts I wrote back in January during a break to my friend’s and, being disorganised and unusually busy at the start of the year, these have sat languishing, waiting for the day I find the time to add the photographs with my proof read ramblings and get them up on here, but then the world changed……

This is not going to be one of about four COVID-19 posts that are also languishing in my blogs in progress, because that is going to come at another point. It’s something I think about often, now that I’m back driving Jackson to school, of course this takes a fraction of the time it did pre-pandemic, but that is also a story for another post!

So, I want to share some images from my recent sessions. Once I got past the “that’s the end of the business I’ve worked tirelessly to make succeed over the last 5 years” feeling, I picked myself up, I got two very large pieces of paper and I started to brainstorm. What can I do to make shoots happen? What am I comfortable with in the current climate? What will my clients’ want, need and feel? So I moved indoor sessions outdoor. Luckily as predominately an outdoor photographer, this wasn’t tricky. I was so blessed to not have to re-train – studio to outdoor, or having to totally change the genre of photography that I always shot, and so I introduced 3 new, on the main part, shorter sessions. All outdoor and all absolutely fabulous (UK weather depending of course!). So here you are, my new normal – our new normal, and how I can continue to do what I love, to give you the images you love and document and capture your family right now, as we all find the way to move forward! All my work practices are now subject to my new COVID-19 procedures, which I’ll share at the end of this post.

Session 1 – Outdoor family photoshoot

Outdoor only, shorter session time of around one hour and reduced session fee and packages. Session fee now £50 regardless of whether it is term time or not because – lets face it – what day is it again? Now the children are being homeschooled and for many, working has become a bit more flexible, does it really matter when it is? Session outdoor at a location suitable to us both, mainly either Bexley or Sevenoaks but I am flexible, where we go for a socially distanced wander. These sessions are really taking me right back to my roots, back to the days I used to document my own littlies. It’s amazing how having to stand back is bringing a new and exciting side to my creativity. Packages start at £199 for 10 fully edited digitals with 10 matching professional prints all delivered via online gallery for you to make your selection. My most popular package sees clients have all 40 odd digital images with 10 matching prints and a mobile app for their phone.

Session 2 – Outdoor newborn photography

Something that I had never shot outdoors before, but right now, this is how I feel comfortable running these sessions. They’ve worked well; I’ve only been back to work two weeks and have done several of these already. These have the same pricing structure as above, and will include a family shoot too. Again, shot at an outdoor location suitable to us both, and a lot more hands on that my newborn sessions previously were as I will be maintaining a 2 metre distance for the whole session (this will change as government guidelines change but will remain hands off for now!). It is advisable to book while you are pregnant in the same way you would have booked your studio or at-home session.

Session 3 – Milestone & cake smash sessions

Again, these used to be studio based but are now outdoors and slightly different. We start this session with a family shoot before we settle down, in a shady spot, to shoot the smash. Again these are now much more hands on as I won’t be any nearer than the current 2 metre distance guidelines (subject to change with government guidelines) but these too are working really well. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed taking these sessions outside and will continue to offer them this way during the summer months even once I decide to reopen my studio for babies and children. Pricing of these currently costs £215 which includes your shop bought cake, wooden topper to keep and your full digital gallery of around 35 images.

To book any of these, just get in touch Nina@3boysandmephotography.co.uk and as always, if your looking for any other sessions, just get in touch to chat. I can’t wait to photograph you all soon! Click here for more examples of my work and my sessions

Loving the idea of an outdoor cake smash, they look amazing.
