Mothers Day Gift Ideas – Sunday 31st March 2019

I don’t know about you, but I always find buying presents a challenge these days. Sometimes, you know that perfect something for someone special, exactly what to buy for that upcoming 50th or 40th birthday, but other times you rack your brains for days, nothing seeming quite right.

Mothers Day is, once again, just round the corner. In years gone by I would be busy helping my boys old primary school, setting up for a Mothers Day plant sale. I used to love doing this. It was a challenge as their old school was huge! working out exactly how many plants you needed to make sure something like 800 children, could buy a plant for their Mum or special person in their life wasn’t easy, but we did it, year after year and the kids just loved it. These days, as the boys have moved schools, I no longer get involved in this but still love seeing the pictures my friends share.

For me, something I will always treasure is pictures of my children. Im in the fortunate place that I can take these myself, although that has its issues, of course, I’m never in these pictures and you can count the pictures of me and my (over photographed children) on one hand. But I’ve absolutely loved picking my favourites and getting these up on the walls of my home, looking at them, is a timeline of their lives so far, and always, always brings a smile to my face. As Mums, we can often feel a bit self conscious of being in these pictures – I am the worlds worse for this! Worrying about how I look, and feeling so awkward in front of a camera you wouldn’t believe, but I think this helps me set people at ease, because, I know exactly how they are feeling. Our children won’t care if we hadn’t quite managed to have our hair done the month before the shoot,  all they will see, is their beautiful mum, at a time in their lives, that they will treasure, (if you have teens like me – that may not be for a few years but believe me that time will come!) Its really important that we are in these pictures and of late, ive been making a really conscious effort to get in the pictures.

Mothers Day this year, why not surprise your wife, Mum, the children’s Nanna with a voucher for a photoshoot – one that will not only mean you have beautiful pictures of your children, but also pictures of you all as a family, pictures with just Mum and maybe even extended family shots with Nanna and Grandad in too!

Vouchers are available on my website either for a minishoot (excluding my lavender field shoots) for £75 or vouchers towards my full sessions in denominations of £100 and £50. Mini Sessions last 30 minutes and are on set dates at set locations. Full sessions run differently so why not get the whole family together,  having a family day out , with me along for 2 hours to capture your memories. This could be walking round Brick Lane in London, stopping for coffee and exploring the street art, meeting at Hall Place locally, and taking a leisurely walk around the beautiful grounds, or maybe just a few hours spent, documenting family life in your family home. (Most full session clients will spend a total of £399 and take away 40-50 fully edited digital images of their day).

For examples of my sessions, please check out my Blog page, and here are a few of my favourite images taken at previous shoots. Thanks and I hope to see you soon!
