A beautiful sevenoaks sun down family photoshoot in Ightham, Kent

When I first spoke to J about her family photoshoot, back in the spring time, we discussed the possibility of this shoot being an early evening shoot. Her children are teenagers now and this is a good time of day for them. And, if you’ve followed my Instagram feed, you’ll know this time of day (the “golden hour” time) is my absolute favourite, the holy grail of perfect, serene, natural, golden light! Over the years, poor Jackson would be quietly sitting reading a book, fresh out the bath with his jooners (my word for pyjamas) on, when I spot “that light” out of his bedroom window and drag the poor chap (with his vintage film camera in his hands) out into the street to capture him in this glorious light. When booking this shoot, we had no idea if this would actually happen – but boy, were we lucky!

The day of the shoot came and it’s actually the first time I had been to Ightham – it’s absolutely stunning; Kent countryside at its finest and when I met the family at their home, I knew this location was just going to be perfect. And – to my delight – we had “that light”! We all headed off, through the back garden, a family of four with two dogs and a beautiful cat called Bluebell, who had no intentions of being left out! Another first for me, a cat on my photoshoot, and lovely Bluebell was just gorgeous!

The light was amazing, the family were absolutely lovely and I finished the shoot, sitting on the lawn taking family portraits, as that beautiful golden sun started to dip down behind their house, saying goodbye for the day.

This shoot really is one of my favourites and I’m so excited to share it with you all.
