9 Crazily, Brilliant days of shooting bluebells 2018
Bluebells -9 crazily, brilliant days of shooting bluebells 2018 and I just love them. Long before I set up my business, my boys would be taken, (who am I kidding! Bribed) along to one of our local woodlands so I could get some pictures of them wandering in the bluebells. Ive got some lovely images, taken over the years, which I really treasure.
In 2017, and being relatively new in business, I offered just a handful of sessions. Now, another year down the line, and more confident in how many sessions I can happily run, I booked two full weekends and a Monday at two venues, the fabulous Riverhill Himalayan Gardens in Sevenoaks and locally to me in a small woodland in Bexley. At Riverhill, I have the whole woodland to myself, and am therefore in early, at the weekends, before they open. These sessions were pretty much all booked by my priority booking list and I was delighted that families didnt mind meeting me, just before 8am in the morning, for their session. I shot 12 of my shoots at Riverhill and will look to offer more of these next year. My Bexley location is also lovely and quiet, whilst its a bit of a walk to where I run the shoot, its really worth it. We only bumped into the odd dog walker and runner, oh – and then there was the shoot were a really beautiful chestnut horse hopped over its fence and came to see what was going on……
I met so many wonderful families, my youngest client was just 4 months old, and it was also really lovely to photograph some older teens, I had a few families with children that were 16/17 and this was just great. All the children did so well. My shoots are very informal and relaxed and I think this really shows in the images, which are candid in their nature and certainly fun! I describe my shoots as “a family walk with me along to capture the occasion!” and whilst I will definitely ask you to stand in a particularly good spot for the light and the background, I won’t ask you to look at me! well maybe just once, as I do like to produce a family shot with everyone looking at the camera but my most favourite, and most purchased images, are were no one is looking at me, but looking at each other having forgotten I’m there which is just perfect!
I offer mini sessions at several points throughout the year. These are generally tied in with times when nature is at its finest, bluebells in April/May, Lavender field sessions in July, Autumn sessions when the trees are just glorious in October time. In addition, I offer sessions for Fathers Day – a tricky occasion to find a gift for, Back to school sessions, (these are very popular and capture your children in their uniforms in a totally new and informal way!) and Christmas sessions up on Londons Southbank. I run priority lists for all these sessions so if your interested please just drop me a line.
My signature documentary/lifestyle sessions are always available. These are my 2 hour family sessions that start in the family home before heading outdoors to somewhere beautiful local to you. These are limited and I only have a couple of weekend spaces this side of the summer holiday – but I’m always available during school hours in term time, just in case anyone is working from home that day and wants to fit a shoot into their “lunch hour”! These sessions are half price during school time – just a thought!
Thanks again to all the lovely families I met this year – its been a blast – trying to whittle down my images for this post has been a challenge! Enjoy
